Mother Tongue O-levels are in a month's time

|| 8:25 PM ||

April is the month when the sunrises are layered with beautiful shades of pink and purple. When the bougainvillea spill over the edges of the overhead bridge in their magenta glory. April was. Now the flowers have withered, but the hot humid weather remains.

Ming fong did not go with us afterall. Her dad didn't allow her to.

We had fun on Saturday anyway. After running 2.4km for Napfa, a whole bunch of us went to MacDonald's for breakfast, then to Coronation Plaza for sushi, and back to school again to do some studying. At noon, Ying Jun and I went to meet Emmeline at Cineleisure. We went all around Orchard searching for a suitable present for Dan er. Finally we settled on this blue star-shaped Mogu cushion and a pair of red Reef flip-flops from Flash n Splash. Nice. And of course we took Neoprints. We always do. I think it has become kind of a custom for St. Marg's girls to take Neoprints whenever they go out. Don't you think so?

Ming Fong agreed. Phew. Now I can forgive her. I'm glad because I'm not good at bearing grudges for long.

I think he's angry with me. Ding Hai. I just found out from Vanessa that there was supposed to be a class gathering on Good Friday, but Ding Hai didn't even tell me. Usually he would ask me to help him organise it.

He has reasons to be angry, though. Because when he kept asking me to go to his church and cell group with him, I repeatedly said no, and gave him various excuses. I mean, I haven't seen him in like six years and would be so extra if I went, secondly I don't like his church because everyone speaks Tongue there, and thirdly I'm not ready for church and that’s exactly what I told him. And he got pissed off. That's not my fault because he's the one who started it.

However. Once he asked me to watch a movie with him and Woey Thee. At first I thought I wasn't free, so he cancelled the whole thing. But the next day I found out I was, so I called him and asked if he still wanted to go. Turns out he was sleeping when I called him, but he said okay, he just needed a little time to freshen up and call Woey Thee. And then, when he got ready and was waiting at the bus stop, I called him again. I told him I didn't want to go anymore because I had no girl-pals to go with me and I would feel strange going out with two guys. He said it's okay but I know I'm a big fat meanie to wake him up and make him change his clothes and everything and say "I don't want to go anymore" when he's halfway reaching the cinema. :(

Yup. So only one of the reasons is my fault. Anyway I’m on the same boat as Tan Xuan now.

E-maths test was quite easy but I made so many silly mistakes I might even fail. Sigh. Carelessness.

Dan er and I are considering to give the classroom a make-over. It would be cool studying in a retro-themed classroom complete with a disco ball. Hehe. Don't think we have time to do it, though, seeing that the exams are around the corner.

I have decided that I will forgive Mingfong only if she buys the present for Dan er on Saturday. Presently I'm trying to pretend that I'm not mad at her, but I think she knows.

Mdm Su put me back next to Natalie. She said Rini and I talked too much. Sigh. This time I have decided to stick to my present seat. Natalie isn't that quiet afterall, but she listens to Mandopop and watches Chinese shows only, so our conversations are rather strained, since we have little in common. But I feel I might be able to get along with her. At least our friendship has improved a little. Initially I used to spend the whole day without even talking to her at all because I was so afraid of distracting her from lessons.

I hate having a sore throat, I've had it for three days already. It's the sort where you keep coughing and coughing, because whenever you breathe, the air tickles your throat. But I refuse to see a doctor - I hate the medicine they give. Eeew. Strepsils doesn't taste much better either, it tastes like medicine too. But I suppose that's because it is medicine. Antiseptic lozenges, it writes on the box.

I lent my precious limited edition Norah Jones cd to Manisha last week, making her promise to take care of it well, and what do I get back? The cd itself is in decent condition but now a huge crack stretches across the whole cd case. So huge, that pieces of plastic from the case threatens to fall out. Oh well. At least it's only the case. Goodness knows what else can happen to your things when they are in Manisha's possession.

I screwed up the Mother Tongue Prelim Orals. I was stuttering my way through, and repeating myself over and over again in the conversation. Also, yesterday after my turn, she told me that I "read many words in the passage wrongly" and today, she told the class that "most people did quite well, except for one or two who read many words in the passage wrongly." Yikes. Not good.

Mid-years are in 3 weeks' time. 3 short weeks! I don't know how I am ever going to get prepared in time, considering that we have to study for Chinese O's as well. How how how?

Sigh. Maybe I'm making a fuss out of nothing? I don't know, just feeling rather jumpy today. Must be because I didn't have a good night's sleep - slept on the floor in my mom's room last night.

I went ice-skating with Genevieve and Janet and their siblings today. Janet's sister Irene is such a bubbly little girl. She goes around hugging people whom she barely knows, holding their hands and telling them jokes. So sweet. Genevieve's brother Bryan is quite charming too.

I saw Shawn Lee at the rink just now! Is that his name? The star of I Not Stupid and Home Run. He looks cute when he smiles. And I banged into him while skating. Haha, I bet when Rachel knows she will be green with envy.

Janet taught me two new steps. Spiral and Duck. Yay. I wish I could go ice-skating with her more often, then I can keep on learning even though I have stopped my lessons. Irene is only eight and she's already at Freestyle. And I, at a grand old age of sixteen, am about 3 whole levels behind her. Sigh.

Today we watched Godspell the musical, in celebration of Good Friday. Natalia, Sem, Rachel and I were fooling around at the back of the theatre: They started waving vigorously to the cast on stage and I swung my house t-shirt round and round in the air. It was really funny because we did that at the supposedly serious parts of the musical. Haha. At the beginning of the play, when they announced to everyone that flash photography was forbidden, a girl from lower secondary purposely clicked on her camera, lighting up the whole theatre with a flash. The whole school erupted into laughter.

The overall production was pretty good though. My favourite of the cast were Alvin John Famos Dela Pena and Celine Tan. Their voices are so good. In fact every single one of the cast can go for Singapore Idol and win. I don't know why they all say Singapore Idol is going to be a failure. Singapore has plenty of brilliant singers, it just depends on whether they get discovered. Emmeline says she is going to join the auditions for Singapore Idol in June and do a William Hung. Haha. Rachel and Rini says I should go. Eeek no! Firstly there are plenty of better voices out there, secondly, it's the wrong year(you all know what I mean) and third, it's embarassing!

I finished I Capture the Castle, by Dodie Smith. It's a lovely book with simple, sweet narration from a young girl. I didn't like the ending, though. How can she end up with a man who is almost as old as her father?! Well, I guess it's just a bizarre story with bizarre twists and a bizarre ending. Haha. Can't wait for the movie to be released here.

We managed to persuade Mdm Su to let Joleen and I exchange places. We told her Joleen couldn't see the board. Hehe. Thankfully Mdm Su didn't realise that actually, Joleen is taller than me. Anyway, now I'm sitting next to Rini and Deborah, and in front of Youyi and Wan Xuan. Yay! At last...people to talk to. Though I had a feeling that Mdm Su initially put me next to Natalie, one of the quietest girl in class, on purpose. She banished me to the other side of the class, far far away from Rachel and Natalia! So sad...now the Bimbo Club isn't as close as it was before.

Dan er and I went to Little India after school today to get our Bindis. We had a rather fun time choosing them, and exploring the quaint little shops winding along Little India Arcade. I like that place. They sell cool Indianish stuff. Intricate jewellery boxes, bangles and all.
